MEET MIKE VEJAR

Billing Manager, Subpoena Services | Orange County, CA

I look forward to the daily challenges and providing our clients with the best services possible.

Part of the Array Advantage is our amazing team. People at Array are knowledgeable, committed, and passionate about delivering excellent work to our clients. Today we’re talking to Mike Vejar, a Billing Manager in our Subpoena Services group.

What is your role at Array? What is a typical day like for you?

I oversee all billing for our Subpoena division.

A typical day for me would start off by reviewing the notes for the orders that have been pushed over to the billing queue to ensure that all billable items are included before finalizing the invoices. I identify any copy orders we may have on file for these records and provide Opposing Counsel with cost estimates for approval.

What do you like about your job?

I have been in the legal industry for 20 plus years. I look forward to the daily challenges and providing our clients with the best services possible.

What is an example of your most creative or impactful work?

I feel that having the ability and knowledge to assist almost any other department within our company makes me unique. An example of this would be when a client asked us to serve a subpoena “same day” at a location that is a 2-hour drive from our Orange County office. In addition, they asked us to pick up a check from their office to include with the service which made this request somewhat unique. Since we were in a time crunch, I jumped in my car, picked up the check and had the subpoena successfully served that same afternoon.

What do you think is the Array Advantage? Why do clients trust Array?

The “Array advantage” would be our leadership team as they provide us with the tools to be successful. Our clients trust Array because we have built a team with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Customer service is a priority and I believe our growth speaks volumes on that.

Describe Array in five words or less.

Agile, professional, client focused.

What did you do before Array? How do you apply that experience to your work today?

When I graduated from High School, I enlisted in the military and spent some time in the Army National Guard. While enlisted, I was a 13 Bravo (cannon crewmember) attached to a field artillery unit. I still implement many of the skills that I learned in my day-to-day life.

I worked for this organization for about 20 years. My initial position was a customer service representative which allowed me the opportunity to be out in the field and work directly with our clients. Over the years I held various positions from running the production department, deposition officer duties, supporting the sales team and working in the billing department. The knowledge I gained over the years has allowed me to be successful as I understand all aspects of the division.

What are you most likely up to when you are off-the-clock?

Health and fitness are important to me, so I try to get some exercise before and after work. Besides spending time with family and friends, I enjoy going on hikes, bike rides and watching sports. I also have a passion for grilling and it’s usually what I’m doing on the weekends.

What is something that would surprise people about you?

I would say my commitment and dedication given my tenure.
What is the most recent thing you learned about or taught yourself to do?

I’m constantly listening to co-workers & clients and trying to implement some of their ideas into my daily routine, continuously trying to better myself each day and represent the company the best way possible.

Our team at Array is supported by industry-leading experts like Mike who consistently apply creativity, dedication and experience in everything they do to solve our clients’ problems and exceed their expectations.
