Array – Where Business Grows North

Written by

It’s been just over 100 days since I joined Array, but in many ways, it feels like the culmination of a 20-year journey. The opportunity to join a rapidly growing entrepreneurial business and lead its Canadian operations surfaced somewhat by surprise — but not out of nowhere. Upon reflection I would attribute it to the result of relationships nurtured over time, and the soft influence of staying connected to a community that continues to welcome me and others with open arms. Stepping back into the legal industry after time away, I was met with smiles and words of affirmation that was equal parts surprising and humbling. I couldn’t help but ask myself: am I exactly where I’m meant to be? The enthusiasm, the synergy, the community spirit — it all says yes.

Re-entering the legal industry and joining Array, feels like coming home. There’s a deep sense of gratitude in returning to a familiar business with familiar faces, and the shared legal isms that shaped much of my professional identity. While the industry has evolved — new tools, new trends, new challenges — the core spirit remains the same. It’s exciting to see how the industry has grown while still holding space for those who step away and find their way back. The blend of resilience, innovation, and expertise has reminded me why I was drawn to this work in the first place.

The Canadian Company That Defined an Industry

In every generation, a few companies emerge that don’t just participate in their industry — they define it. They see around corners, cause disruption, and set standards where none previously existed. For me this was Commonwealth Legal, an entrepreneurial company that was born not with a roadmap, but with a bold idea and a “Do or Do Not” determination.

In its earliest days, Commonwealth Legal was a disruptor in every sense. It introduced new ways of working that reimagined how legal professionals managed evidence and engaged with the industry. For over a decade it invested in technology where others hesitated, and it created a scalable model for customer experience that was a step above. Our leadership team knew the secret ingredient wasn’t innovation — it was people. At every level in the organization, we worked to cultivate a culture of excellence, trust and action. Careers flourished. Lifelong friendships were forged. Families were supported. We worked hard, had great customers and had fun together.

In 2014 it caught the attention of a large multinational company, Ricoh. The acquisition was bittersweet — an end to one chapter, but also the beginning of a new journey. Leaders came and went (including myself), markets evolved but the values, systems, and people remained intact — even as it assimilated into Ricoh. For me and our team, it was a source of pride, proof that what was built locally could resonate in other areas of a large company.

The Birth of Array Canada: Rooted in Legacy, Engineered for the Future

A decade later, history repeated itself. A new player emerged: Array. Ambitious. Visionary. Determined to disrupt the industry once again. And smart. Instead of starting from scratch, Array’s leaders saw the immense value in Ricoh’s eDiscovery business. With the belief that Array’s future could be accelerated and a better-together mindset, Array acquired Ricoh’s Canadian and US eDiscovery business. This event forged a new path for the existing business and Array Canada was born.

A Bold Company with a Clear Vision

When I first met the leadership team I was greeted by a group of sharp, values-driven individuals who are deeply passionate about what they do. From the very first conversation, there was a strong sense of alignment in vision, purpose, and ambition.

It’s clear this is a highly entrepreneurial company, built on bold thinking and a relentless drive to create impact and memorable customer experiences. It reminded me of the early days of Commonwealth Legal and a Canadian Icon company WestJet that introduced the slogan… “Big Enough to Make a Difference, Small Enough to Care.” I was keen to bring my experience and leadership to the table, scaling what’s already been built with care and grit, while honoring the past and fostering the culture that has been the foundation of Array’s success.

A Legacy Built in Canada, Now on a Global Stage

The spirit that made Commonwealth Legal successful continues to thrive today at Array. The same passion, agility, and customer-first mindset that fueled its origins are still very much alive — now with even greater support and opportunity on a global scale.

Being a Canadian entity within a global organization brings the best of both worlds — local insight and global reach. It means staying deeply connected to the unique needs, values, and culture of the Canadian market, while also contributing to and benefiting from the scale, resources, and innovation of an extended network. It’s about proudly representing Canada on a global stage, sharing our perspectives and expertise, building and bringing world-class solutions home. This dual identity strengthens our ability to deliver impact locally, while remaining agile, competitive, and forward-thinking within an ever-evolving global landscape.

Array: Creating What’s Next

As I look forward, I am proud to be part of Array. A company that stands on a strong foundation with a clear vision: to help our customers reach new levels of success. I am truly honored to help lead this company through its next chapter of growth —a journey I approach with deep gratitude and excitement.

I am equally proud to be a member of our Canadian team. A team that remains steadfast in our commitment to customers, our people, and a culture rooted in innovation.

But what inspires me most is our people — their resilience, adaptability, and ability to see opportunity in moments of change. That mindset creates real momentum. With deep roots and a bold outlook, we are not just ready for the future – we are driven by it!
